A 60-day journey circling the Land Down Under is being halted days after the fatal incident of an senior female passenger who was left behind by the vessel on a remote tropical isle.

Suzanne Rees had been hiking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the cruise ship, but separated from the group for a rest. The vessel departed without her and went back several hours later after the personnel became aware the lady was not present.

An extensive search operation found her body the next day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the tragedy, in coordination with law enforcement and the state coroner.

The CEO of the voyage organizer stated that passengers and staff on the Coral Adventurer were told that the rest of the journey had been called off due to the "sad loss and earlier technical problems".

Through an announcement, he added that passengers would be given a full refund, and said the operator was working "to coordinate the homeward trips of the individuals via private aircraft".

Authorities also released an updated statement, and said they had "issued a notice to the Master" banning any new passengers from getting on the vessel.

The spokesperson said that they would visit the liner in the port city upon its return.

Sequence of Events

The ship first departed the coastal city on October 24th, and was only 48 hours into the expedition at the point of the senior passenger's passing. The remote island was the initial destination on the journey.

Guests on the vessel - who usually pay large sums of money to join the expedition - were ferried there for a day trip with the possibility of walking or underwater exploration.

Next of Kin Response

The daughter of the elderly passenger said that her relatives was "shocked and saddened that the vessel left the location after an planned outing without my parent".

Through her comments, she portrayed her parent as an "energetic elderly person" who was a member of a hiking group.

"According to scant facts we have been provided, it seems that there was a lapse of attention and ordinary reasoning," she mentioned.

She further stated that she hoped the examination would be able to determine what "the organization should have performed that might have preserved Mother's being".
