Tom Clancy's The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG

The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being translated into a dice-based role-playing experience. A collaboration has been formed to develop a tabletop RPG set within the series' apocalyptic landscape. This initiative was revealed, with a funding drive scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026.

"This project aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, tactical intensity, and memorable setting to the table, offering fans a new way to engage with The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," reads an announcement.

Initial offerings are set to feature a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, miniatures, and several deluxe editions.

Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this setting, a lethal pathogen known as Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, sending the United States into chaos. As the crisis worsens, society crumbles and violent factions rise, transforming the urban landscape into a battlefield. To restore law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. This is where the agents come in.

Development on the RPG has been in progress for approximately three years, and it is reportedly finished. The upcoming Kickstarter campaign will function as a pre-launch sales platform to access a broader market, specifically in the United States. Production will start immediately following the campaign, with shipping expected for the latter part of 2026.

A Streamlined Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System

A preview at the game's rules reveals it uses 10-sided dice exclusively through its new GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and strategic approach. Players leverage skills or traits to assemble small dice pools, usually from one to five d10s.

  • Instead of summing the total, participants choose a single “resolution die” from the group.
  • This dice is then measured against a set challenge number.
  • Achieving a natural 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or enhanced aid.

Combat Emphasize Positioning and Awareness

Fights prioritize placement and situational awareness, reflecting the source material. Elements like cover, elevation, or visibility directly influence success chances. This system is designed to reward teamwork and smart positioning over raw numbers.

A Novel Health Mechanic

The way health is tracked introduces a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage reduces their effectiveness by decreasing the number of d10s.

  1. At zero health, an operative collapses, but is not knocked out.
  2. They can still crawl and take limited actions, emulating the "downed" state seen in many shooter games.
  3. Any agent knocked down must consult a trauma table, potentially gaining persistent effects like trauma or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Scenario

A free Quickstart Guide is promised soon. It includes a pre-made introductory scenario titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players lead the search for a missing medical team and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers gang, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the complete product lineup will be detailed near the campaign launch.
