A person who laced candy with sleeping medication and provided them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males both nine and ten years old.
The defendant was detained after eight minors and a grown-up fell ill at the location in the summer month.
The elderly man, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.
However, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The accused was remanded in custody before a further hearing on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, described the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She stated his those affected were under-privileged children who were attending a summer program which he operated.
The man conducted a "sweet game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior said, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were settling down and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had engaged in this activity with the children "over an extended period", and minors had previously become sick the following morning.
She stated the man had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in recently.
The legal representative continued: "This year his stepson had suspicions about the activities, for good reason.
"They resolved" to investigate in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor stated materials including lubricant, ointment and syringes were located, and his family member alerted the authorities about his concerns.
She stated the defendant continued to engage in the "treat game" with six boys that evening - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that time," she continued.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the incident.
The prosecutor said the minors were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson contacted the authorities a second time.
She stated the defendant then conducted the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
