The anticipation of a high-stakes and fascinating heavyweight contest between Parker and Wardley at the iconic O₂ Arena offers a welcome respite to the struggling sport. Wardley turns 31 in December, and he said: “This is a monumental event for the two of us. It is clearly the most significant bout of my professional life and the greatest challenge I've faced. But whenever I face a tougher opponent I excel under pressure. Saturday will be no different. The divide between where Joe is and what others believe about me has been a common theme during my entire career.

“He's a seasoned veteran for a extended duration, with a lot of fights on his ledger. By no means is he an senior boxer but he has been in the sport for a while and had some heavy fights.
