Grief as Renowned South African DJ Killed in the City of Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation battling rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old entertainer was approached by three individuals, one of whom began shooting at him before running away.
The purpose behind the incident is unknown and no one has been arrested have taken place, police said.
Details of the Attack
Police revealed that Stock was targeted as he was departing from a premises near the city center landmark.
He had been present for hours at the site supervising the implementation of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, according to reports.
"It is alleged the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report confirmed.
Security camera video showed a man with dreadlocks and wearing what resembled a guard's attire shooting on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the incident.
Crucial forensic evidence, like bullet casings, were recovered from the scene.

Police have appealed members of the public who may have seen the suspects to come forward.
"We know they walked a long distance after the attack, and officers have been following their trail to find their location," stated a police chief.

His family member, a close relative, stated the family was struggling to come to terms with the loss.
"I am devastated. I cannot express the pain," she stated.
"We know he was a champion for numerous individuals. He addressed issues courageously about issues not many people were ready to speak about. This is a tremendous loss."
